Prayer Requests
In many senses, we exist to pray, for that is the core of monastic life. We pray for the world, for the Church, and for individuals. We pray for those who need others to join a choir of voices who are already intercessing for them, for those who have no others to pray for them, and for those who do not know they need prayer.
Prayer gives us purpose and invigorates our day. We invite you to submit your requests for prayer below so that we may add them to our own prayers. You may either use the below form to send them to us electronically or you may mail a written request to our postal address (on this page).
In our faith, it is traditional to provide support to monastics in recognition of the value of their prayers. Given the nature of the internet and the lack of sharing physical space (it would be hard for someone to bring us a bag of apples as an offering, for example), we suggest the following ways to “pay it forward”:
- Pray for us and our mission working with the poor and homeless in America’s poorest city (we continue work with several food pantries and charities in Camden, NJ). Indeed, the Bible directs us to pray for one another: “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective” (James 5:16).
- Pray for someone else, be it a loved one, friend, co-worker, or someone you see in society. Pray for their improved health, lives, or salvation.
- Do a kind deed for someone. Doing something as simple as sharing a smile with someone in a grocery line can improve their day and life. Donate some of your old clothing or travel sized toiletries to a homeless shelter. There are so many options; choose one that feels right to you and improve someone’s day. It might improve your day, too.
